At Southern Outdoor Cinema, we love to produce outdoor movies that leave event guests with a FUNnominal experience. Recently we added a photo booth to a Movies in the Park in Alpharetta, GA. Movie guests felt like celebrities as they stepped up to red carpet, picked a prop and posed for our cameras.
We wanted to share our photo booth setup with you, so that you too can add some silly pre-movie fun to your next outdoor movie event. Here is how to setup a photo booth at your outdoor movie event.
1.) Set Up a Backdrop – We used a 7 x 7 vinyl banner with the event sponsors logos that was created by our local print shop.
You can use a number of backdrops, included a painted wall, fabric or large seemless sheet of paper. Your backdrop should be tall enough to be a foot above your guests and wide enough to allow for a few people in the photo. You can use a professional stand to hang your backdrop from or attached your backdrop to a wall with tape.
2.) Setup A Camera – You’ve got to get the snap shot. Setup a camera on a tripod or use your smart phone. Make sure you have batteris and ample storage space on your camera. Also provide an area for your guests to take photos of their own.
3.) Provide the Props – This is the fun part. Provide a variety of props for your guest to pose with. Don’t know where to start? Just open your own closet. Look for some unusual items like a fluffy scarf, gloves that were worn to the prom or even some old costumes. Next check out the local thirft and consignment shops. Look for objects like large picture frames, suitcases, musical instruments. Take a trip to the local party shop. There you will find oversized sunglasses, feather boas and inflatable decorations.
4.) Tell Them What To Do: Having a sign telling your guests what’s going on. Don’t assume they have done this before. We placed a red carpet where they were to stand, but if you don’t have a carpet you can place an X on the ground. We simply told people: grab a prop, stand on the red carpet and say “cheese”.
We had a blast with our photo booth and so did our event guests. So for your next outdoor movie event, why don’t you offer a photo booth. Your guests will have a fun snap shot memory of your special event.
