While April Fools Day might not be a national holiday of sorts, it is probably one of the funniest days of the entire year. It falls on the 1st day of April each year and is a day full of pranks, practical jokes, and hoaxes played on one another simply for the fun of it all. There are actually an enormous number of movies appropriate for watching on April Fools Day but here are three of the top picks.
April Fools Day
There are some April Fools Day pranks that just aren’t funny at all, and the movie “April Fools Day” is loaded with quite a few of them. Buffy (Deborah Foreman) is a rich girl whose birthday just so happens to fall on April 1st so she decides to invite a bunch of her college friends to her families vacation home, located on a small island in the middle of nowhere, to help her celebrate. The pranks begin before the ferry has a chance to reach the island and some go a little too far, but none as far as the pranks that involve guests disappearing one by one once at Buffy’s family getaway. What begins as a fun April Fools Weekend amongst friends quickly turns into a weekend with one simple goal…to survive!
Batman
If there were ever a movie made that included a character who was the epitome of April Fools Day, it would have to be “Batman”, and the character the Joker. Michael Keaton is Bruce Wayne, a multi-millionaire eccentric by day and Batman, a crime fighting caped crusader by night. Jack Nicholson is the Joker, the quirky criminal who keeps Batman busy with all of his crude attempts at being funny, while always looking for ways to rob the city blind. And Kim Basinger is Vicki Vale, the photojournalist that both Batman and the Joker would love to be with. There is never a dull moment in the action packed adventure that is “Batman”
Billy Madison
When a rich, spoiled, and extremely childish Billy Madison (Adam Sandler) is forced to leave his life of laziness and drunken poolside parties to return to grade school, things get very interesting very quickly. Billy is in line to take over the family business when the time comes, but his father (Darren McGavin) decides to see if Billy has still got what it takes, and gives him an ultimatum. Billy can return to school, pass grades K-12 in 24 weeks time, and take control of the family business as planned, or he can kiss his chance at running the family business goodbye for good. Billy realizes that there is but one choice and it is to enroll in Kindergarten and prove to everyone that he can be a responsible adult. This will be the toughest thing that Billy has ever attempted but the question is, can he finish what he has started? This is a question that can only be answered by watching the movie “Billy Madison” this coming April Fools Day.
