Church Youth Ministry Hosts Big Hero 6 Movie Night

Posted by Paul Murray on Sunday Jan 10, 2016 Under Event Productions

Considering that the Big Hero 6 movie was a phenomenal film, there is only one way to make the movie better, and that is by hosting a children’s movie event in a space that is transformed into San Fransokyo with featured characters from the film. That is exactly what occurred when Southern Outdoor Cinema partnered with the Youth Ministry at a Church in Roswell Georgia for movie night in a basketball gym. It was truly amazing to watch their church community come together to create an unforgettable atmosphere for the children to enjoy and remember for a very long time.

Southern Outdoor Cinema provided the inflatable movie screen to showcase the film, and the Youth Ministry and the church community did an excellent job of decorating the gym with themed items from the Big Hero 6 film. The decorations included paper lanterns for ambient lighting, white balloons decorated with the one-of-a-kind Baymax face, props that resembled the San Fransokyo city and skyline, colorful balloons, bags and bags of popcorn, lots of tasty treats at the fully stocked concession stands and much more.

Big Hero 6 Movie Night at Church

The youth fully enjoyed the special guest appearances by the Big Hero 6 movie characters, which included Baymax, Hiro Hamada and Honey Lemon. The energy in the room was vibrant and electric as the children ran, played and interacted with the movie characters. Of course, the super cuddly Baymax character stole the show as the children could not get enough of the life-sized superhero that had clearly captured the imagination of the smaller children.

Big Hero 6 Movie Characters

The movie event was truly epic before and after the featured film even started. However, when the film was playing the children enjoyed watching their favorite Big Hero 6 characters on the large inflatable screen. The children cheered, laughed and smiled as the event was truly a family affair with very supportive adults and teenagers who worked really hard to ensure that the youngest participants had a great time.

The movie event was truly filled with joy and tons of smiles and laughter as all of the participants interacted with each other like one big happy family. Another thing that the children really enjoyed was the freedom to make unlimited trips to the concession stands. It seemed like there was as much popcorn and candy as any small movie theater that I had ever been to.

Having Southern Outdoor Cinema screens at the Big Hero 6 movie event was a fantastic experience for everyone. Even though the children were very respectful and well-behaved, it was still great to have the presence of an inflatable and mobile movie screen that is durable and capable of withstanding a room filled with excited children who played freely and safely.

SOC-Outdoor-Movie-Singles-event-church-14

It can be hard for young adults to meet other singles these days, especially if they are looking for a safe and wholesome environment in which to meet others their own age. Many people go to bars and nightclubs or resort to online dating sites to find a significant other, but recently a community church came up with a new alternative for those in their parish.

This church decided to host an outdoor movie event where the singles in their community could mingle with each other in an environment that was not only safe, it was fun. They had a huge inflatable movie screen set up on the church’s lawn with their building as the backdrop. A movie for young adult singles was selected as the main feature of the evening, and to get the event started off, the pastor spoke about how he had met his spouse at a special event at church.

Part of what made the outdoor movie event for singles such a success was the amount of people who came. Not only did this large church invite its own members, they asked singles from their four satellite churches to come as well. They also didn’t make it exclusively for the church members. Non-church members were included, and everyone was encouraged to bring a friend. Because it was only for singles in the community, there were no families with little children involved. This made it much easier for everyone who attended to mingle with others freely.

The movie started as the sun went down. The large group of singles who showed up for the event had brought blankets, pillows, and lawn chairs. Everyone was able to claim a spot on the church’s lawn where they could be comfortable, and the inflatable screen was big enough that everyone was able to find a good place for viewing the presentation. It became an entertaining way to sit back and relax on a warm evening with both new and old friends.

The hosts of this outdoor movie event for singles realized that it could be difficult to actually talk to others and meet new people while watching a movie, so they included many other activities. Before the feature film was scheduled to begin they had games such as corn hole set up, but it was the line dancing that stole the show. A huge group of people joined in as the music played. It was as fun to watch as it was to dance, and it turned out to be the perfect way to break the ice.

You can’t host a successful event without food. The church arranged to have plenty of food trucks come in and offer the guests a terrific way to get snacks and treats both before and during the movie. In keeping with the movie theater feel they also made sure that there was plenty of popcorn to go around. Many of the singles thought ahead and brought along picnic dinners to enjoy on the lawn of the church.

Social events are a great way to meet up with new people in the community. When a church decides to host an outdoor movie event they are providing their members a wonderful way to find other singles in their area while remaining safe. This church’s movie night event for young adults was a huge success, and hopefully many of those who attended can one day tell a story similar to their pastor’s about how they met their spouse at a special church event.

Summer Camps Host Indoor Movie Events

Posted by Paul Murray on Wednesday Jul 8, 2015 Under Event Productions

Indoor movie at summer camp

An Atlanta area youth summer camp recently hosted an indoor movie event to surprise the children who attended. Southern Outdoor Cinema was hired to produce the indoor feature film for the group, and it was a complete success. Everyone from the smallest child to the event’s coordinators enjoyed an evening filled with singing and fun as they got to watch a beloved Disney movie.

Power Camp

Power Camp invites the youth in the Atlanta area each year to come and experience some new sporting opportunities that they may otherwise not get a chance to enjoy. The camp gives children between the ages of eight and twelve the ability to participate in some non-traditional sports like lacrosse along with a few favorites such as soccer, tennis, and volleyball. The kids are trained by accomplished athletes that range from high school players to actual professionals. All participants learn skills and team work that they can carry with them throughout their lives.

Movie Night

The camp is held at Morehouse College where event coordinators turned the school’s gym into a movie theater complete with popcorn for everyone. This was done as both a reward and special treat for the children. An inflatable screen was set up at the far end of the gymnasium. This left plenty of room to lay out blankets and pillows for all of the campers to relax on while viewing the main attraction.

Movie night was a special treat and a surprise to the campers. Not only was the event itself unexpected, but the movie selection was also a huge surprise. The movie selection wasn’t announced until the start of the film so you can imagine how thrilled the children were when they were shown Frozen. Disney’s big animation hit portraying the icy story of the two totally devoted to each other sisters is a beloved favorite of many so it was only natural that the children sang along with Elsa and Anna throughout the film. The fact that this indoor movie event turned into a sing along only added to the fun of this unique experience.

Much of this indoor movie event’s success is due to the expertise of Southern Outdoor Cinema. They have provided all the necessary equipment for several indoor and outdoor movie events. For this particular viewing the movie was shown on a silent movie screen. This new screen technology allows the screen to be blown up and then the blower is removed for a quieter viewing experience. No noises distract from the indoor movie. In addition, Southern Outdoor Cinema’s turnkey service allowed the camp coordinators to not worry about the production details. This let them focus all of their attention on the campers.

The success of this summer camp’s indoor movie event gave the group’s leaders a way to reward the children with a unique surprise. The kids enjoyed their night of popcorn, a movie, and plenty of sing-alongs. Best of all, this event created memories that these children will forever cherish.
