2014 Atlanta Outdoor Movie Guide

Get out the blankets, bug spray and lawn chairs! Free family outdoor movie nights are returning to Atlanta and North Georgia this summer and fall.

Movies in the Park™ is a multi-city outdoor movie tour features free children’s activities and family-friendly outdoor movies shown in unique and historic settings in Alpharetta / Johns Creek, Dawsonville, Woodstock and Canton. All movies start at sundown. All Movies in the Park events are free and concessions are available at most locations.

Dates and movie titles are subject to change.


Movies in the Park™ – Alpharetta / Johns Creek

Movies in the Park™ returns to Atlanta and North Georgia for another year of free outdoor movies under the stars. The multi-city outdoor movie tour features free children’s activities and family-friendly outdoor movies which are shown in unique and historic settings in Alpharetta / Johns Creek, Dawsonville, Woodstock and Canton.

Movies in the Park™ – Dawsonville

Take the family on a staycation with a day spent at Lake Lanier, just a few minute drive from Atlanta. Enjoy a swim in the lake, building snowmen in the sand and an outdoor movie on the beach. Overnight camping at the park is also available (small fee may apply).

Movies in the Park™ – Canton

The Canton series which is Sponsored by Northside Hospital Cherokee in association with Southern Outdoor Cinema and The City of Canton, will be hosted in the heart of downtown Canton at Browns Park located off of Elizabeth Street. The park, which is the former site of Governor Brown home, features views of the 1925 City Hall as well as a Memorial Arch (dedicated in 1923).

The Northside Hospital Cherokee’s Movies in the Park™ Canton series is as followed:
August 30– Rio 2 (movie @ 8:45)
September 27 – The Lego Movie (movie @ 7:30)
October 25 – How to Train Your Dragon 2 (movie @ 6:50)

Gates open one hour before the movie.
Activities include face painting, kids activities and concessions



Movies in the Park™ – Woodstock

This year don’t just watch a movie outdoors. Instead, watch an outdoor movie in a historic downtown setting during the Movies in the Park™ series in historic Woodstock GA. Before the movie, take a stroll down Main Street and check out the local shops and restaurants or just watch the train roll into town.

The Woodstock series which is Sponsored by Northside Hospital Cherokee in association with Southern Outdoor Cinema and The City of Woodstock Parks & Recreation, will be hosted in the heart of downtown Woodstock at The Park at City Center off of Main Street

The Northside Hospital Cherokee’s Movies in the Park™ Woodstock series is as followed:

October 31 – How to Train Your Dragon 2 (Kids Fest starts at 3:00pm & movie @ 7:00)
