Northside Hospital Forsyth’s Movies in the Park™ returns to Cumming for a 5th season. Movies in the Park ™ is Georgia’s longest running ‘outdoor movie and festival’ series. This year’s series will be held on July 24th and August 21st on the soccer fields at the Polo Club in Cumming. The Polo Club is located at the intersection of Post Road and Majors Road, across from the Vickery Shopping Center.

Movies in the Park™ are more than just outdoor movies. Each event is preceded by a festival. Families are encouraged to come out early to get a good spot on the lawn for the movie and to enjoy inflatables, children’s activities, face painting, carnival games and concessions. Movies are shown on Southern Outdoor Cinema’s giant two-story tall inflatable movie screen.

“With the return of school just around the corner, We have chosen two movies for the series that deal with kids returning to school” says Paul Murray of Southern Outdoor Cinema, who is the event’s creator. “Each movie deals with a main character’s efforts to fit in to school, something that I’m sure every kids deals with at the beginning of school and parents can reminisce about. Each movie will provide lots of laughs for both the kids and their parents.”

In Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel, the first movie in the series, the world famous singing pre-teen chipmunk trio return to contend with the pressures of school, celebrity, and a rival female music group known as The Chipettes. Diary of a Wimpy Kid, the second movie in the series, is a live-action adaptation of Jeff Kinney’s illustrated novel about a wise-cracking sixth
grade student. Both movies are rated PG.

Moviegoers are encouraged to bring families, friends, a blanket or lawn chair and bug spray. The gates will open two hours before film showings and movies will start at sundown. The events are free and open to the public. Pets and alcohol are not permitted.

The Movies in the Park™ series is also held in Dawsonville, Johns Creek and Canton, Georgia. For more information about the series visit the event website at www.GaMoviesInThePark.com
